The Caras Cattle

The cows that make up the Caras herd today originate from nine cows bought from Payson FFA in 1994 and 8 cows purchased from Hutchings Cattle Co. between 1998 and 2003. All of the cows Jim Purchased were deep bodied, good uddered cattle out of sires known for producing good functinal maternal cows.

We have always tried to raise cattle that will work hard for us and ask for little in return. The best cows in our opinion are the ones that breed 1st cycle, calve without assistance, milk well, wean a big calf and rebreed 1st exposure again and again. For over 20 years we have been selecting sires both artificial and natural that we believe will produce those traits.
